Meet Steve Morris

Steve Morris has spent his life serving the people who call Concord home, because he does, too. But this community isn’t just where he lives. It’s where he’s from, with deep roots on both sides of his family in Cabarrus County.

Raised in Kannapolis by his parents, Bob and Joyce, Steve grew up surrounded by extended family. His maternal grandparents worked in Cannon Mills. His paternal grandparents owned a neighborhood grocery store in Concord.

He attended A.L. Brown High School and worked part-time at Mills Florist before starting college at NC State and finishing his degree at UNC Charlotte, where he earned a B.A. in Business Administration.

Shaped by generations who lived and worked in this region, Steve understands what—and who—gives Concord its soul. And he believes deeply in protecting what makes this city special, while making sure the rapid growth we’re experiencing doesn’t define us before we’ve had the chance to shape it ourselves.

He knows that growth brings opportunity, but only if it’s guided with care. That means listening well, investing wisely, and making decisions that serve the whole community.

WHY HE’S RUNNING

Concord is at a crossroads. Steve knows the road forward.

Steve is running for Mayor because this moment calls for steady, experienced leadership that knows how to make growth work for everyone.

Whether you’ve lived here your whole life or just a few years, Steve believes Concord’s future should reflect all of us. That means stronger neighborhoods. Safe streets. Infrastructure that can keep up with demand. And a city government that feels accessible and responsive, not disconnected from the people it serves.

He knows what’s working. He knows where we’re falling short. And he’s not interested in drama or headlines – he’s here to do the work.

    WHAT HE BELIEVES

Leadership should be present, not performative.

Steve isn’t running to reinvent Concord. He’s running to protect what’s working, fix what’s not, and make sure everyone has a say in shaping what comes next.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. And Steve would love to hear what matters to you. So, reach out. Ask a question. Share your perspective.

Because Steve’s not just running for Concord, he’s running with it. And he’d be honored to have your support at the finish line.
